Immigration
Americans Spoke Loudly!
The Immigration Bill was defeated. This was a victory for American citizens! The politicians heard loudly from those who want to protect our country from economic and social ruin. The overwhelming majority (80%+) of Americans want nothing short of border security first! Only after existing laws that protect the border and prosecute employers that hire illegals are enforced and strengthened will we discuss what to do with the illegal immigrants already in our country. We must stop the flow of illegal immigrants into this country and eliminate opportunities for employment. Our so called leaders (the politicians) must continue to listen and make this their first priority. The American majority will remain vigilant! -g
Immigration Legislation Baloney!
The politicians seem to be patting themselves on the back. The Kennedy-McCain bill looks as though it will move forward. Unfortunately, the key portion of this bill and its' effectiveness depends upon "closing" the US borders. If or should I say when this does not happen, nothing will change other than the illegal population will become legal and a new wave of illegal immigrants will arise over the next few years. I have not heard anything about enforcement of laws that should penalize those employers that hire illegals. I have not heard conversations restricting the admission of relatives of illegals into the United States. I will hold my breath for anything to change. We will be discussing the same topic and how we integrate the next wave of illegals that didn't care about immigration laws. Why, because our politicians have no spine or guts to enforce existing laws. Politicians looking for votes at the expense of law abiding United States citizens. I am disgusted! -g
Immigration
The topic of immigration is a very important issue for Americans. The issue is a controversial one to say the least. There are many viewpoints and perspectives on which Americans differ greatly. I believe that the solution is a difficult one but must be addressed.
First, we must close the borders and enforce existing laws in order to protect the American citizen. Border control and laws of this land have been ignored for far too long. We can no longer allow illegals into our country and provide them with the same benefits as an American citizen. Those that are already in the country should be required to register themselves and provide proof of their current residency. They would be allowed to stay in the United States and apply for legal status pending the outcome of a background check.
Second, we should prosecute employers that knowingly hire illegals and the penalties must be harsh. Multiple offense penalties should include closing a facility or business.
If we remove the opportunity for employment, potential for income and deny all benefits to these people, the reason for the illegal movement into our country will not exist.
Lastly, when an illegal alien gives birth to a child in the USA, citizenship should not be automatically given to that child. This privelige should only be accorded to US citizens and those legally in our country.
Americans will do the jobs that many claim they will not! Politicians are just looking for new voters at the expense of the American economy. Washington does not want to curb the influx of illegals into the USA!
Until we address these issues seriously, the problem will continue to escalate. -g

Contact your representatives and let them know how you feel about this injustice to the US citizen! (submitted by a US citizen)
It is time to enact term limit legislation for our representatives in the Senate and Congress. I suggest 6 year terms with a maximum of 12 years as elected representatives of citizens of the United States! -g
