The “Fairness Doctrine” Debate
Pressure is being exerted on politicians from the “left wing” liberal segment of our country to revert back to a time when conservative opinions and access to the media were stifled. The politicians in Washington D.C. are discussing and debating whether or not to reintroduce the “Fairness Doctrine” which was done away with in the 1980’s. The elimination of the Fairness Doctrine resulted in an explosion of viewpoints, opinions and voices not heard previously in the media – The Conservative Perspective! The reintroduction of this bill seeks to stifle the conservative voice and thus the free market in the United States. The bill would call for equal time for opposing viewpoints. In short, the goal is to eliminate the strength of the conservative voice in America. In my view, the Fairness Doctrine is not about fairness. It is about eliminating the conservative voices. Apparently, in the mind of Liberals the free market does not work to their advantage and thus must regulated and be declared unfair. In America, the free market does work! If the Liberals had something of substance to say, the market would listen. The truth is that the Liberal viewpoint is not shared by a majority of Americans. The advertising community will not be there to support their voices financially. Thus, Democrats must intervene or so they believe! The financially ailing “Air America” radio network is a perfect example of how the free market works. Provide the listening public with little substance and viewpoints that are not shared by the majority of Americans and guess what happens. You have a relatively small listener base and few advertisers to support your cause. On the other hand, have something of substance to say and the people and advertisers will be there to support you as they have done with conservative voices such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and others. The Fairness Doctrine is purely a political ploy to silence those that speak for most Americans whether they admit it or not! The American free market works! America is conservative!
A Fairness Doctrine is not needed in America, land of the free!!!!!! -g
Muslim Friendly Campuses and Airports?
Apparently, colleges around the country are striving to become more sensitive to the needs of Muslim students on campus. This “Muslim Friendly” approach includes foot washing stations, Muslim only dormitories and other methods of catering to this group. I object to this! It looks like religious discrimination to me! Taxpayer dollars are being spent in order to cater a specific religious group. Why? Could it really be that the liberals at colleges and universities are catering to a religious group for political purposes? Could it be that they support Muslim teachings in which Americans are considered infidels? College administrators must demonstrate that they have a backbone and stop this nonsense. Just say no to pressures from a minority of the student population. Isn’t it concerning when these same campuses and administrators, stifle the viewpoints of conservative professors, reprimand them for their views and sometimes remove them from their jobs because of their political ideology. Liberal professors are able to support Islamic ideals and extremism without repercussion. Airports around the country are also considering the addition of foot washing stations and prayer rooms. I am for religious freedom and expression of faith but this is going too far. We should respect the Muslim faith while not supporting their politics. In my opinion Muslim Friendly initiatives are purely political correctness gone amuck! -g
